I feel like a politician standing up here....and that really is what we all need to be. We need to keep our programs and classes in the fore front of our schools and community. We need to make sure everyone knows the worth and value of our classes are. You can do this by accepting the challenge to provide a solid, diverse curriculum for our students to meet the requirements for graduation in Michigan You can do this by staying focused on the changing needs of youth and young adults as they graduate and move on to life after High School, whether it's a job, a trade school, or college. We all know that everyone needs what we teach. It will help them become productive members of society. You can do this by keeping your parents, Administrators, Board of Education, and State Representatives updated. Invite them, especially the parents and your School Board of Education into your classroom to visit. You can do this by attending this conference you are getting great ideas and keeping pace with what is new in education. Stay connected to the other Family and Consumer Science Teachers in your area - share your triumphs and together we will become stronger.
